New technology is making it possible to detect intermittent faults in high-noise environments, such as an airplane. LiveWire Test Labs, Inc. has developed a device that can detect and locate faulty wiring, which previously had been difficult given the miles and miles of wiring located within a single commercial aircraft. Not only would this save airlines money and reduce plane delays and cancellations, it could avoid potential disasters, such as TWA Flight 800 and Swissair 111, in which faulty wiring was implicated in both crashes.  Nice to know they’re keeping you and your family safe.

While an entertainment unit in the back of each seat comes standard on JetBlue, international flights, and in first class, Air Canada is one of the only North American carriers that offers a touch-screen entertainment unit that does not have a preset schedule. Passengers can fast-forward, rewind, start, stop, and pause ’till their heart’s content. Talk about some much-needed entertainment when traveling with kids.

There are few bigger hassles than having to haul a bulky car seat through a crowded airport, long security lines, and onto a plane. So thank heavens for the child aviation restraint system specifically designed for planes and FAA approved to keep children safe during all phases of flight. The device weighs only one pound, fits all airplane seats, and takes only a minute to install. Sound too good to be true? Think again!
